In the news on Wednesday, an extremely difficult engineering feat took place a few hundred yards from Traip Academy. A 4 million pound center road span for the Sarah Long Bridge was floated by a rising tide into position on the new bridge. This event took place on one of the most turbulent rivers in the country. Given all the technology available, the supervisor for the Cianbro Construction Company used a tape measure to monitor the clearance of the span to the two towers. This bridge is built to last 100 years and should be open for traffic by the end of November.
