In the news today are some frightening statistics about the opioid crisis in Maine.  In 2016 there were 376 drug-induced deaths.  This represents a 38 percent increase from 2015.  Of those 376 deaths, 88 percent were accidental overdoses of drugs like heroin, fentanyl and carfentanil.  Yesterday at the Maine Municipal Association's annual conference, the Portland Deputy Fire Chief said that today when his team comes on shift, they wonder how many overdoses they will see that day, in from of schools, on Interstate 295, in homes and on the street.  He added; "There are no easy answers."
